From dazzling lights and festive markets to joyful performances and community celebrations, Providence is the perfect place to make holiday memories.

Welcome to Providence for the holidays as we spread cheer throughout the City. PVD Holiday Festival activities take place throughout downtown with additional events and activities in our various neighborhoods.



Metered Spaces - Holiday Parking

Mayor Brett Smiley and the City of Providence are offering free parking for holiday shopping this year in commercial districts to support Providence’s small businesses. Enjoy 2 hours of free parking from November 29 through January 1st at metered spaces in Downtown Providence, bounded by Sabin Street, Memorial Boulevard, Dyer Street, Clifford Street, and Dave Gavitt Way. Info on additional holiday parking zones throughout College Hill, Federal Hill, the Jewelry District, near the State House & Train Station, and more can be found here. Parking Lots

If you can’t find a metered space, there are many private parking lots and garages and parking lots to park in and around Downtown on Washington, Westminster and Snow Streets. Some parking lots are listed below. 

  • Biltmore Garage - 51 Washington Street
  • Down City Parking - 330 Westminster Street
  • PPAC Garage - 233 Weybosset Street
  • Central Parking - 36 Pine Street
  • LAZ Parking - Multiple locations on Empire and Fountain Street
  • The Arcade Garage - 66 Weybosset Street
  • Providence Place Mall - 259 Providence Place

There will be a free trolley available on Saturday, December 6th from 11:30am until 6pm. You will be able to hop on and off the shuttle at the following locations.

  • DePasquale Square, Federal Hill, 266 Atwells Ave. 
  • The Graduate Hotel, Dorrance Street
  • Corner of Eddy and Westminster Street, 60 Eddy St
  • Corner of Mathewson and Westminster Street (Near Hotel Providence), 149 Mathewson

The last shuttle will end at The Graduate Hotel for the City Hall Tree Lighting and Providence Rink.
